The Vauxhall Grandland X all-wheel drive is now available in plug-in hybrid form.
The new Grandland X Hybrid4 is Vauxhall’s first-ever plug-in hybrid, powered a 200hp, 1.6-litre turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder petrol engine, a brace of electric motors with combined output 109hp, and a 13.2kWh lithium-ion battery. This system offers a combined fuel consumption of up to 128mpg while emitting just 49g/km CO2.
Of the two electric motors, one is coupled to an electrified eight-speed automatic transmission, while the second is integrated into the electrically-powered rear axle providing on-demand all-wheel drive. Electric, hybrid, AWD and Sport driving modes are available. Pure electric mode provides a of 30 miles, while in hybrid mode the car automatically selects the most efficient method of propulsion, for example switching electric mode for zero-emission driving in slow moving urban traffic
A 3.3kW on-board charger is included as standard, with an optional 6.6kW version also available. With a 7.4kW wallbox, customers can fully charge the battery in less than two hours. The Grandland X Hybrid4 can also be charged at more than 85,000 charging points across Europe, as part of Vauxhall’s Free2Move Services. Using the Vauxhall Navi 5.0 IntelliLink infotainment system, this also includes a trip planner which suggests the best routes based on the car’s remaining range and the location of charging stations. The Grandland X Hybrid4 also features a regenerative braking system, which can increase the electric range by up to 10 per cent, and Vauxhall Connect telematics service with Live Navigation and automatic roadside assistance.
Fully battery electric versions of the next-generation Corsa, Vivaro Life MPV, new Vivaro LCV, and the successor to the Mokka X have also been confirmed for future release.
