Vauxhall has announced that its new Cascada convertible will cost from £23,995 when it goes on sale in the UK in April.
For that money you'll be looking at a basic SE spec model with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Standard equipment on the SE trim level includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a sports chassis, rear parking sensors, cruise control, DAB radio, LED taillights and USB/aux-in connectivity.
The more upmarket Elite trim level includes leather trim, climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel and front fog lights. A 1.4-litre petrol Elite model will set you back £26,095.
Other engines on offer include a new 168bhp 1.6-litre petrol which is available in SE spec for £26,505 and Elite trim for £28,605.
Two 2.0-litre diesels complete the range. The lower-powered 163bhp unit can be had in SE spec for £25,495 and Elite spec for £27,595, while the top-of-the-range 192bhp BiTurbo diesel can only be specified in Elite trim, with prices starting from £29,080.
Although the Cascada has not direct rival, it is significantly cheaper than its nearest competitor, the Audi A5 Cabriolet. In fact, it is possible to buy a top-of-the-range Cascada for less than the cost of a poverty spec A5.
The Cascada is available to order now.
