The Ssangyong Korando Sports has been given an upgrade to its multi-link rear suspension, with the pick-up’s payload capability increasing to just over a tonne as a result of the changes.
The Korando Sports can now carry a payload of 1,050kg on its load deck, a development which, along with its availability to business users without VAT, the manufacturer hopes will increase the popular pick-up’s appeal even further.
The Ssangyong Korando Sports range starts from £14,995 (ex VAT) on-the-road, with Ssangyong Motor UK Chief Executive Paul Williams claiming that, “with a full 1-tonne payload, this really is the best value pick-up you can buy!” In addition, every new Korando Sports comes with Ssangyong’s 5-year limitless mileage warranty.
A practical crew cab, the Korando Sports pick-up boasts seating for five as well as four-wheel drive and a towing capability of up to 2.7-tonnes. The Korando Sports comes in a choice of SX or EX models, with the former featuring 16-inch alloy wheels, tinted glass, air conditioning, leather covered steering wheel, remote central locking, Kenwood MP3 CD player, RDS radio with USB and auxiliary port, Bluetooth connectivity, and speed-sensitive power assisted steering.
The EX model gains 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats, powered driver’s seat, electrically adjustable and power folding heated door mirrors, and rear parking sensors. Optional extras for the EX include a 6-speed automatic gearbox with cruise control. The 2.0-litre Ssangyong e-XDi diesel engine delivers 153bhp while offering a claimed 37.7mpg combined.
Its rear load bay provides over 2-sqm of floorspace, enough to accommodate a Euro pallet, and comes with integral anchor points and load deck liner. An optional rigid hard top offers extra security and protection. Safety features include an electronic stability programme as standard, active roll-over protection, and hill start assist.
The latest Ssangyong Korando Sports range is priced from £14,995 for the SX model, £16,995 for the manual EX model, and £18,495 for the EX automatic. All prices stated exclude VAT.
