Owning a car with positive and long lasting value is said to affect motoring costs significantly as the UK's three slowest deprecating cars are revealed.

The Audi Q5, Skoda Yeti and the Abarth 500 were named as the UK's slowest depreciators by valuation specialists, CAP.

The findings, published by Auto Express, revealed that owning a car with slow depreciation means drivers could save as much as £10K over 3 years.

The Abarth was awarded third place behind the Audi Q5 and Skoda Yeti and has an average resale value of 60%. The resale value is based on three years or 30,000 miles of use.

Ivan Gibson, head of Abarth in the UK, said, "Right from the start we had the plan to build in long-term value to the Abarth brand."

Gibson continued, "A sustainable cost of ownership is something we have always been able to offer Abarth drivers and, add to that the fact that the Abarth 500 is a timeless and highly attractive car, it's no wonder that it has done so well in this important research."
