Jaguar have launched the new XF using a veteran stunt-man to drive it over Canary Wharf on a high wire.
Jim Dowdall who has provided stunt expertise to Hollywood blockbusters such as Bond and Indiana Jones films, drove the new model 240 metres across the Royal Dock in Canary Wharf. Jaguar aimed to emphasise the new lightweight aluminium construction of the Jaguar XF, which has seen intensification of the use of weight-saving materials in a successful drive to cut 80kg from the total mass.
The global debut is due to be on 1st April in New York and will further showcase recent enhancements, inside and out. Efficiency has been improved to the extent that it has the lowest CO2 emissions of any non-hybrid model in the segment (104g/km). Engine options will range from 2.0 litre Ingenium diesel to a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine with 380PS/450Nm torque.
A cabin area with improved space will contain a 12.3 inch instrument cluster as well as a 10.2 inch touch screen which can display a split screen; allowing a driver to use navigation systems whilst a passenger alongside watches a movie.
Full specification and details will be available on 1st April.
