The first model in the Sports Series will make its global debut at the New York International Auto Show tonight.
As ever, the performance statistics will be incredible; the 570S Coupe is named after its ability to produce 570PS which is equivalent to 562bhp. It will accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 204mph. Much of the impressive performance can be attributed to McLaren’s efforts to save weight, which has made the 570S Coupe a leader in its class with a power to weight ratio of 434PS per tonne.
The design philosophy for the new Sports Series range is led by aero dynamic features which McLaren describe as ‘shrinkwrapped’. The exterior features rear flying buttresses to increase down force and complex door tendons which channel additional air to the mid-mounted V8 engine.
The manufacturers have gone to great lengths to maintain a cabin space which is functional and comfortable; no mean feat in a car designed primarily for race track excellence. The seats, dashboard and steering wheel are leather bound for comfort, while a full infotainment system will be teamed with a light-weight speaker system.
Further details will be revealed this evening in New York.
