The new MG GS SUV goes on UK sale next month, and the Birmingham-based car maker has divulged details of the gruelling programme of testing they have subjected their new model to ahead of launch.
MG have sent the new GS on a 750,000 mile round-the-world trip to put it through its paces, from the 46°C heat of Alice Springs in Australia’s to the icy -30°C temperatures of frozen Arjeplog in Sweden. In addition to the extreme weather testing, the MG GS has undergone over 200 hours of wind tunnel testing to develop fuel efficient aerodynamics. It has even been put through what MG call the ‘wet dog’ test – wet cloths placed in the car to test how quickly it demists when moisture is present inside.
Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing for MG, said: “When you look into what a new car endures prior to going on sale, it’s fascinating and demonstrates the effort that goes into ensuring the car is the best it can possibly be. With the imminent arrival of the GS, we’re excited to share facts and figures and nuggets of information people may have not been privy to before. By sharing these, we’re showing customers that when they step into the GS they know it can stand up to all challenges and adventures they put it through.”
