Tesla has confirmed that the all-electric Model S will cost from £49,900 in the UK, with the first right-hand drive models reach Blighty by March next year.
Three variants of the Tesla Model S will be made available: the entry-level version with a 60kWh battery which costs £49,900, a larger capacity 85kWh battery model, which will be priced at £57,300 and a top-of-the-range £68,700 Performance model which also gets an 85kWh battery but which is fitted with a more powerful motor. All prices are inclusive of the government's plug-in car grant.
The announcement was made at the opening of Tesla's new London store at the Westfield shopping centre. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said at the opening: "Tesla is taking the UK market very seriously, and there are more stores and service centres to come.
"We're also going to establish a Supercharger network so Model S customers will be able to drive long distances anywhere in the UK using our network for free, forever. The first Supercharger will be energised next quarter and we’ll aspire to have the entire country covered by end of next year."
