Suzuki’s recently-launched Vitara range will be expanded in January with the addition of a new S model.
More than 5,000 Vitara’s have sold since the current model was introduced eight months ago bearing standard features such as seven airbags, alloy wheels, DAB Radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control with speed limiter, auto air conditioning and front and rear electric windows, and now the S model adds 17-inch Gloss black alloy wheels, unique grille design, satin silver door mirrors, LED Headlamps with red projector covers, rear upper spoiler and black side body mouldings, red interior stitching, red accents on the air conditioning vent and instruments, and aluminium alloy pedals to that impressive equipment list.
The new Vitara S will come in a choice of Bright Red, Cool White Pearl metallic, Galactic Grey metallic, or Cosmic Black metallic paint finishes, and will be powered by Suzuki’s new 1.4-litre BOOSTERJET Direct Injection turbo engine. This power plant provides a 0-62mph time of 10.2 seconds and top speed of 124mph.
Lightweight construction and an Engine Auto Stop Start system help see the Vitara S return CO2 emissions as low as 127g/km.
Suzuki’s ALLGRIP 4-wheel-drive system, which debuted on the 2013 S-Cross model, comes as standard on the Vitara S and boasts four driver-selectable modes. The system anticipates loss of grip in advance and initiates preventative measures rather than reacting to slippage. The technology and safety systems on the Vitara helped the model earn a full 5-star rating during 2015 Euro NCAP crash testing.
The Vitara S comes in a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, priced at £20,899 for the former and £22,249 for the former.
