The Suzuki Celerio city car will go on UK sale from February, the Japanese car maker has confirmed.
The Celerio received its European debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and despite its diminutive stature Suzuki claim the design offers not only interior space and headroom to rival most conventional A-segment cars, but also a class-leading 245 litres of luggage capacity.
Standard equipment in the new model includes six airbags, air conditioning, alloy wheels, DAB radio, CD tuner, and USB and Bluetooth connectivity, with full specification and trim level for the Celerio range to be confirmed later this year along with the pricing structure. The Celerio will come in a choice of six colours, five of which will be optional metallic paint finishes.
At launch the Celerio will offer buyers a combined fuel economy of 65.7mg and 99g/km of CO2 emissions, but further improvements will come next summer when Suzuki plans to introduce its new Dualjet engine technology to the range, and should result in even greater efficiency. The Celerio’s economy is also aided by the inclusion of Suzuki’s new Auto Gear Shift, a system designed to give the benefits of an automatic transmission for city driving, but without the impact on fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions found with conventional torque-converter automatic transmissions.
