Hyundai have announced their new zero-emissions, hydrogen fuel cell-powered ix35 Crossover SUV will be priced from £53,105 on-the-road.

That price includes part-funding from the HyFive project, a European initiative made up of five automotive companies which aims to deploy 110 fuel cell electric vehicles and increase the number of hydrogen refuelling stations in London to five by the end of the year. Without the HyFive funding, the ix35 carries a price tag of £67,985.

The Hyundai ix35 has already been released in fifteen global markets, including eleven on the continent. The car’s fuel cell has a 100kW electric motor, with a top speed of 100mph. Its two 5.64kg hydrogen tanks give the ix35 a 369-mile range, and with energy stored in a lithium-ion polymer battery the car is designed to operate in temperatures as low a minus -25 degrees Celsius. Driving range has doubled, and fuel efficiency improved by over 15% compared to Hyundai’s previous fuel cell-powered offerings, with the ix35 the fourth-generation of such vehicles produced by the manufacturer.

The ix35 is now available to order directly from Hyundai Motor UK.
