Subaru is launching its new XV crossover concept today at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Subaru claims that the new XV "blend[s] traditional SUV practicality within a fashionable form," and you'd have to say that the XV is a handsome car. Along with Subaru's trademark hexagon grille, black lower bumpers and metallic embellishments give the XV a very stylish, muscular look. The XV also features a panoramic glass roof which extends from the windscreen to the rear of the car, and alloy wheels with silver spokes and black rims. The car is finished in Electro Yellowgreen which, Subaru claims "embodies exciting performance."
In terms of actual performance, Subaru has not given much away. The XV is fitted with a double-overhead-cam 2.0-litre boxer engine mated to a CVT gearbox so it is doubtful that performance is going to be electrifying.
On the inside, the XV has a touch-screen display which controls both navigation and in-car entertainment. Subaru's EyeSight system is also included which uses cameras to scan the road ahead, spotting potential hazards and mitigating the risk to the driver by preparing the brake assist system.
There is no word yet on whether the XV will see production.
