The AWD Subaru Impreza has impressed MSN Cars during testing at Rockingham Raceway.

MSN Cars tested four cars - the Impreza, the BMW 1-Series, the Honda Civic and the Volkswagen Golf - by subjecting them to handling tests on the skid-pan at Rockingham. Three tests were carried out in order to ascertain the cars' performance on wet roads - a simulated skid recovery from 30mph, a standing start on a slippery surface and a wet slalom.

The AWD Impreza consistently outshone the front-wheel-drive Civic and Golf and the rear-wheel-drive 1-Series. MSN Cars were clearly impressed with the Impreza, claiming, "This is a car you could drive through the middle of a snow blizzard and emerge out the other side."

The AWD Impreza is available to buy with prices starting from £17,345 for an entry level 1.5, and rising to £35,795 for a 3.6R outback cross-over.
