The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been named as Europe's most reliable used car.

A study from Warranty Direct has found that the 2006 W211 Merc E-Class is the most dependable used European car on the roads, with only 10% experiencing a breakdown within the last 12 months.

Over 20,000 warranty policies on cars aged between three and six years old were taken into consideration.

The second most reliable car is the latest-generation Skoda Fabia, followed by the Smart ForTwo and the Volvo C70.

Conversely, at the bottom of the table was the Land Rover Discovery (2004-2009) -- of which 85% needed attention over the last year -- followed by the Bentley Continental GT, 78% of which went wrong.

See below for a list of the top five most, and least, reliable used European motors.
