Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., announced today that Subaru's new RWD sports car, developed in conjunction with Toyota, will be named the Subaru BRZ.

The concept version of the BRZ will be shown at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. BRZ, in case you were wondering, stands for 'Boxer Engine', 'Rear Wheel Drive' and 'Zenith', obviously.

Unsurprisingly, the BRZ will be fitted with a horizontally-opposed Boxer engine and production is due to start next spring. There is no word from Subaru on the pricing, nor have they made it clear when we can expect to see the BRZ on British roads.
