Skoda announce electric CITIGO | New Release - Car News May 2019

Skoda are the latest manufacturer to join the electric revolution with the announcement of a battery-powered version of the CITIGO.

The CITIGOe iV will be powered by a 61kW electric motor, becoming the first all-electric model in Skoda’s 124-year history. Its 36.8kWh lithium-ion battery offers a range of over 160 miles, making it ideal for the urban motoring environment the CITIGO was designed for.

The battery is hidden in the chassis of the five-door, four seater, CITIGOe iV, so a boot capacity of 250-litres is still achieved and rises to 923-litres once the rear seats are lowered. The battery can be recharged to 80% in an hour using a 40kW DC fast charger, in just over four hours with a 7.2kW AC wall box, and 12 hours 37 minutes with a 2.3kW home-charging station. It can also be recharged using a standard household plug socket. The fast charger and cable for AC charging are included with Style specification models, but are an optional extra on Ambition models.

The redundant radiator grille is finished in body colour, and there is also a redesigned front bumper to distinguish the all-electric model. All models come with fog lights and LED daytime running lights as standard. Lane Assist, and front, head, and thorax airbags are also standard. Four standard paint finishes are offered - Candy White, Tornado Red, Sunflower Yellow and Kiwi Green – with metallic options of Deep Pearlescent Black, Crystal Blue, and Tungsten Silver.

Ambition trim will include 14 inch steel wheels and Indus wheel trims as standard, with the option of the two tone 16 inch Scorpius alloy wheels that come as standard on the higher-spec Style trim. Style trim has ambient lighting on the dashboard, electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors, leather steering wheel, leather gearstick, leather handbrake lever, height-adjustable front seats, chrome door handles feature chrome décor, and the option of a Comfort package that adds heated front seats, four additional speakers, and rear parking sensors.

Skoda will begin production of the CITIGOe iV later this year, with full specification and pricing details to follow.
