Silverstone hopes to encourage fleet decision makers to purchase electric vans in its coming EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show, which is taking place in April.
The preference for greener and environmentally friendly cars is growing, especially due to the Government's introduction of the £8,000 plug-in grants available for buyers opting for electric vehicles.
The Silverstone 'EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show' event is sponsored by the Energy Saving Trust and will take place on 18th April.
Test drives and experts' advice
Visitors will be able to drive and test a complete line-up of electric vans, both around the racing circuit and also on the roads surrounding Silverstone. Vehicles available for the test drive will include the latest petrol-electric hybrids, diesel-electric hybrids, fuel-cell hybrids and electric range-extenders, as well as the latest low-emission petrol and diesel engine vehicles.
The event will also include experts on the van and the environmental market so visitors considering purchasing EV and low CO2 vehicles can find answers to any questions they may have about electric vehicles. Experts from Cenex - the UK's first Centre of Excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies - will also participate in the day-event to discuss with clients about the various carbon reduction strategies.
"It's great news that we will have a number of electric vans that visitors can drive at this year's show," said Ross Durkin, event organiser and Fleet World magazine managing editor.
"We all know that van operators must be persuaded that a new vehicle will fit into their operation in every conceivable way. So the fact that we will have a range of experts on hand to discuss these topics will make it a really worthwhile experience for fleet managers who want to hear all sides of the argument before making a decision," added Durkin.
