SEAT showcases its future design vision at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, with the world debut of its new IBL concept car.
At this year's Frankfurt Motor show the Spanish car maker SEAT unveiled the new SEAT IBL, a sports saloon concept which combines a simple, clean exterior with an innovative luxury interior.
Speaking of the IBL's debut the President of SEAT James Muir said:
"The IBL shows that sports saloons within the SEAT brand portfolio will play an important role in future. However, this concept car does not pre-empt a specific model, but rather shows the design philosophy we are applying to bring the unmistakable SEAT identity to a saloon car, too.
"The IBL is the perfect representation of SEAT brand values - with its distinctive look, its precision and its premium feel. Over the next few years, SEAT will embark upon a product offensive that will see the spirit of the IBL reflected in several series-production models."
The IBL has generous proportions, with a long wheelbase of 2.71 metres and an overall length of 4.67 metres. It has a flowing, dynamic roofline, and the classic SEAT 'arrow' nose, which give the car a powerful appearance. These features allow the car to combine the elegance and spacious interior of a classic saloon car with the athletic and sporty looks of a sports coupe.
More than anything, the exterior of the IBL is designed to give the impression of precision, a look which is accentuated by the sharp design strikes of the full LED headlamps. The air intakes, located low down on the front end and framed with fine chrome lines, also have a sharp, linear design.
The IBL also comes with a wide range of technological innovations, from its plug-in hybrid powertrain, to its state of the art programmable information system. The information hierarchy and colour coding of this system can be configured by three different programmes - 'Travel', 'Sport' and 'Efficiency'.
