The Saab PhoeniX has walked away with the much sought-after Design Award in the Auto Express 2011 New Car Awards.

With an astonishing 30% of Auto Express readers voting for the Saab PhoeniX as the number one 'head-turning' car of the year, the PhoeniX has well and truly trounced the opposition to take home the Design Award at this year's Auto Express New Car Awards.

With its sleek bodywork, innovative features, and exceptional efficiency, the Saab PhoeniX concept car showcases the design and technology which will shape the next generation of vehicles from Swedish car manufacturer Saab.

The awards ceremony was held last night at Woburn Safari Park, and Acting Editor of Auto Express Graham Hope said of Saab's win, "The Saab PhoeniX scooped the Design Award after topping our online poll. It was up against 39 rival concept and production cars, but won by a big margin, securing 30 per cent of the vote."

Managing Director of Saab GB accepted the award on behalf of the form saying, "We are delighted that the PhoeniX has been awarded this prestigious accolade. The PhoeniX symbolises a renaissance of the innovative spirit and passion that drove Saab to build its first car, the iconic Ursaab, and we look forward to launching the next generation of Saab models in 2012."
