The Isuzu D-Max Blade, which appeared as a special edition model last year, is to return as the permanent top-of-the-range model in the D-Max line up.
The Blade special edition was a huge success for Isuzu, who produced twice as many as originally planned to meet unexpectedly high demand, and this has prompted the manufacturer to bring it back as the flagship model in its D-Max premium pick up range.
Priced from £25,999, the four-wheel-drive double-cab D-Max Blade is available to order immediately, with first deliveries to commence later this month. The model comes with a six-speed manual, or for an additional £1,000 with a five-speed automatic gearbox, and is finished either in Cosmic Black as standard or the new-for-2015 Pearlescent White colour option. Powered by a 2.5-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, the D-Max Blade boasts a class-best 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and has a combined fuel economy figure of 38.7mpg.
Other visual enhancements for the flagship model include 18-inch, six-spoke alloy wheels, and either an Aeroklas leisure canopy or Black Mountain Top roller cover with rear style bar. Inside are heated leather seats, Shadow Grey headlining, bespoke side-sill scuff plates, Blade-branded carpet mats, and Piano Black interior highlights. The audio system boasts eight speakers, and the 6.1-inch touchscreen navigation system includes integrated rear safety camera technology.
Under the bonnet, the Blade sports the same highly-efficient 2.5-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that powers every Isuzu D-Max in the range. Producing 163 PS and 400 Nm of torque, this unit enables the D-Max Blade to combine a class-leading towing capability of 3.5-tonnes (braked), while also returning an official fuel economy of 38.7 mpg (combined NEDC). Customers can choose from a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission.
