This is the new Renault Kwid concept, which has just made its world debut at the Auto Expo in New Delhi.
Designed with input from Renault Design India, the Kwid concept is intended to show the French manufacturer's commitment to new markets, such as India, and is the first concept car Renault has ever unveiled outside of Europe.
As you can see, the Kwid is absolutely tiny. Renault claims that the car's short overhangs and oversized wheels given the impression of a "bouncing vehicle", whatever that means. The big, chunky bumpers and wings also give the Kwid an off-road look, despite the fact that the Kwid is a front-wheel drive car.
Inside, the Kwid's cabin has apparently been inspired by a bird's nest and has been designed to "serve as a snug cocoon." Renault claims the white seats give a feeling of lightness, while the air-conditioning unit can be operated via controls on the back of the driver's seat. The dashboard also has an integrated touchscreen which incorporates sat-nav.
Things are slightly less futuristic under the bonnet, where you'll find a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a dual-clutch EDC transmission; however, Renault claims it has also allowed for an electric motor and batteries to be fitted.
It's unlikely that the Kwid will make it into production; however, a Kwid-sized car incorporating some of its design themes could be on the cards.
