Renault have confirmed that prices for the record-breaking Megane R S Trophy-R will start from £51,140 on-the-road.
The UK will receive just 32 examples of the car, which recently broke front-wheel drive records at the legendary Nurburgring and Spa Francorchamps racing circuits.
The 296bhp 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol-powered Megane R S Trophy-R is a full 130kg lighter than the standard RS 300 Trophy, with lightweight Sabelt bucket seats, bespoke Brembo braking system, Ohlins adjustable dampers, Akrapovic titanium exhaust, carbon composite bonnet, carbon rear diffuser, and Fuji Light 19-inch alloy wheels shod with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres. A stripped out interior sees the rear seats removed and a special luggage retention net added. In-depth performance data and telemetry is accessed via a 7-inch R-LINK 2 infotainment centre.
With the additional Carbon Wheel pack the Megane R S Trophy-R will cost £63,140, and will add a set of Carbon Revolution 19-inch wheels that save an extra 2kg per wheel. For £72,140, the Megane R S Trophy-R has the same specification used by Renault Sport test driver Laurent Hurgon on his record-breaking laps. This includes a carbon ceramic front braking system with larger 390mm discs and gold finished calipers, and a dynamic air intake that saves 2kg in weight.
All versions of the Megane R S Trophy-R can additionally be specified with a lightweight lithium-ion battery that saves another 4.5kg, a six-point harness for the Sabelt seats, and an accessory ducting pipe for the dynamic air intake that feeds straight into the engine’s intake system.
