Petrol-power for Maserati Levante | New Release - Car News Oct 2017

Maserati have added a petrol-engined version of the Levante S, joining the diesel model launched in the UK last year.

The 430bhp 3.0-litre V6 engine propels the Levante S from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds and to a top speed of 164mph. Maserati produced the engine in conjunction with the Ferrari Powertrain development team, and it is manufactured by Ferrari in Maranello. Paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, the Levante driver can select any one of four drive modes - Normal, I.C.E., Sport and Off-Road - to intelligently alter engine, transmission, suspension and electronic settings.

A state-of-the-art braking system has Brembo 6-piston aluminium monobloc callipers on 380mm drilled discs on the front, and aluminium 42mm floating callipers with 330mm x 22mm ventilated drilled discs on the rear.

The aluminium double-wishbone, five-link suspension layout of Levante S comprises standard Air Springs and electronically-controlled Skyhook shock absorbers, while the model also boasts an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive System, and torque vectoring.

Driver assistance systems include Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The Levante S comes in GranLusso and GranSport trim levels. GranLusso trim has metallic-finish front skid plates, the GranLusso badges on the front wings, the body-colour side skirts, black-painted brake callipers, and the 19-inch Zefiro alloy wheels. Inside is Ermenegildo Zegna silk or full premium Italian leather upholstery, with a Radica open-pore wood trim and leather steering wheel. GranSport models have a Piano Black front grille, skid plates and roof rails, body-colour side skirts, red brake callipers and 20-inch Nereo wheels, leather sport seats with 12-way power, a power adjustable sport steering wheel with gear shift paddles, and stainless steel sport pedals.
