Order books have opened on the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe which is priced from £40,580 on-the-road.

The entry-level GLC 220 d is powered by a 170bhp 2.1-litre diesel engine delivering a combined 56.5mpg and 131g/km of CO2, while the same figures are available from the 204bhp version of the 2.1-litre engine fitted in the GLC 250d. A 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox is a standard feature of the GLC Coupe.

Sport and AMG Line are the two trim levels. Both feature Garmin Map Pilot navigation system, Active Park Assist, black or beige Artico upholstery, keyless start, reversing camera, LED performance head lights, heated front seats, sports suspension, electrically-operated tail gate, and electrically-operated and automatically dimming mirrors.

Sport models boast a black ash wood interior trim, 18-inch alloy wheels and a diamond grille with black-painted pins, while for a £1,495 premium the AMG Line trim adds a flat-bottomed AMG sports steering wheel, brushed steel sports pedals, black roof lining, black or Cranberry red Artico leather upholstery, an AMG bodystyling kit, 19-inch five-twin-spoke alloy wheels, and a diamond grille with chrome pins.

Premium and Premium Plus packages are available across the GLC Coupe range. The £1,495 Premium package includes ambient lighting, sliding glass sunroof, Keyless-Go, comfort package, and memory package. The Premium Plus package, priced at £2,795, adds COMAND Online infotainment system and Burmester 13-speaker surround sound system.

Lane Tracking package adds Blind Spot Assist and Lane Tracking Assist for an additional £595. While the £1,695 Driving Assistance Package includes Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane-keeping Assist ,Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, BAS Plus with Crosswind Assist, Pre-safe Plus, and Pre-safe Brake with pedestrian detection.

AMG Line models also have the option of the Night Package for £495, consisting of black exterior mirrors, 19-inch alloy wheels with five-twin-spoke bicolour design, front apron with high-gloss black trim, and rear apron with diffuser in high-gloss black.

UK deliveries for the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe are due to start in September.
