The all-new Nissan LEAF has begun to roll off the production line at the company’s Sunderland plant.
The latest generation of Nissan’s big-selling electric vehicle will begin to arrive with its first customers early next year.
Capable of 235 miles on a single charge, the new LEAF brings with it an improved range, as well new driver assistance systems and enhanced connectivity. A new e-Pedal allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate and stop the car by simply increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator, while ProPILOT automatically controls the distance to the vehicle in front and steers the vehicle to help keep the LEAF centered in the lane. ProPILOT Park technology is a full auto-parking feature combining advanced image processing technology using four high-resolution cameras and information from 12 ultrasonic sensors around the car to guide the LEAF into a space.
The Nissan LEAF has been in production in the UK since 2013, and a further £36m investment in the Sunderland Plant has been made to ready it for production of the new model.
