Changes to the Nissan Micra line up see new engine and gearbox options become available, as well as the addition of a new trim level.
An all-new 1.0-litre IG-T 100 engine replaces the replaces the 0.9-litre IG-T 90 petrol unit in the Nissan Micra range. The Euro6 compliant engine offers increased performance and efficiency, with more power and lower CO2 emissions, and with a five-speed manual transimission sees fuel economy increase to as much as 50.4 mpg.
The all-new 1.0-litre IG-T 100 will also be available with a new Xtronic CVT automatic gearbox, whose optimised power delivery is designed to appeal to urban drivers. Sales of automatics accounted for 12% of cars in the Micra’s class when it was launched three years ago, but with that figure expected to hit 30% by 2022 the new Xtronic transmission will help keep the Micra in line with changing buyer demands.
Another new engine is the 1.0-litre DIG-T 117 turbocharged petrol engine, which is linked to a six-speed manual transmission for the more performance-orientated customer. Its 0-62mph time of 9.9 seconds is a full second faster than the IG-T 100-powered models. A 10mm lower ride height, revised suspension tuning, and 17-inch alloy wheels are also a feature of DIG-T 117-powered Micras.
Joining the Nissan Micra range is a new N-Sport grade, which includes carbon-style finish on the alloy wheels and door mirror caps, gloss black finish on side mouldings and bumpers, N-Sport badging, rear privacy glass, halogen front fog lamps, Alcantara seats with leather-style inserts, rear view camera with parking sensors, iKey remote entry with push-button engine start, front seat arm rest, white air vents, black headliner, and sports-design floor mats. N-Sport is available with all of the new engine and gearbox options, and in four distinct body colours – Passion Red, Solid White, Echo Grey and Enigma Black.
