Volvo have revealed their new mid-size premium estate, the V60.
Built using the same platform as award-winning new XC60, as well as three of Volvo’s range-topping 90 series models, the new V60 boasts increased levels of space, advanced connectivity, and the latest in driver support systems and safety technology.
Following the announcement last year that from 2019 all new Volvos will feature an electrified powertrain, the new V60 comes with two plug-in hybrid options. The new T6 Twin Engine AWD petrol plug-in hybrid that generates a combined 340 bhp, or the T8 Twin Engine AWD petrol plug-in hybrid that delivers 390 bhp. More conventional options include T5 or T6 petrol engines, and D3 or D4 diesels.
Technology features include City Safety with Autobrake that uses automatic braking and detection systems to assist the driver in avoiding potential collisions. In an industry first, it is able to recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. In another first, City Safety now also engages autobraking to mitigate oncoming collisions. Pilot Assist system supports the driver with steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 80 mph, and has been upgraded to improve cornering performance. The new V60 also includes Run-off Road Mitigation, and Oncoming Lane Mitigation, with the option to add Cross Traffic Alert with autobrake.
Its Sensus infotainment system is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G, and is controlled using a tablet-style touch screen that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and entertainment apps.
UK prices for the new V60 will start at £31,810 on-the-road, with deliveries expected to commence in the autumn.
