Volkswagen have opened the order books for the new Sharan MPV, with UK deliveries expected to commence in October.
The seven-seat Sharan first appeared in the UK twenty years ago, and now the latest generation of the model features the most complete specification level to date, as well as Euro 6 compliant engines which are up to 15 per cent more efficient than the outgoing Sharan. The current Sharan has been on sale since November 2010, and the new model retains the EasyFold seating concept side sliding doors introduced then. Inside the new Sharan are new upholstery options, new steering wheel, and a second-generation colour touchscreen MIB infotainment system.
Automatic Post-Collision Braking, Bluetooth connectivity, and tri-zone air conditioning are also standard across the range, including the entry-level Sharan S which is priced from £26,300. The mid-range SE trim, which starts from £29,160, gains chrome roof rails, tinted rear glass, front and rear parking sensors, and cruise control. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-range SEL trim includes Front Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, panoramic sunroof, Alcantara upholstery, and Discover Navigation with CarNet guide and Inform. Prices for the Sharan SEL start from £33,360.
The new Sharan range boasts a choice of four engines. A 113bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesel is available on the base model S only, while there is also a 1.4-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel – both producing 148bhp – as well as a 2.0-litre TDI with a 182bhp output. There is a choice between six-speed manual and six-speed DSG automatic transmissions, with the latter available on all but the entry-level S 2.0-litre TDI.
The new Sharan is available to order now via Volkswagen’s UK dealer network.
