Volkswagen have teamed up with audio specialists Beats Electronics to create a range of new special edition Polo models.

Priced from £13,910, the new Volkswagen Polo Beats range is available to order now, boasting a state-of-the-art sound system comprising a 300-watt, eight-channel amplifier with digital signal processor, seven high-end loudspeakers, knocking the standard 80-watt set up into a cocked hat. The speaker system comprises two A-pillar mounted tweeters, two woofers in the front doors, two rear-mounted broadband speakers with a subwoofer integrated into the spare wheel well.

The image created by the Polo Beats’ sound system is backed up by sharp looks, 16-inch Knight alloy wheels, darkened rear light clusters, 65 % tinted rear windows, High Gloss Black-finished radiator grille, and Flash Red, Pure White or Black door mirrors with integrated indicators. Beats motifs on the side skirts and B-pillar complete the exterior look. Beats-badged sill protectors are found on the inside, which also features Cortina Silver trim on the centre console and air vent surrounds, leatherette door panels, chrome trim, and LED foot well lighting.

Available in three- or five-body styles, the Volkswagen Polo Beats offers a choice of four efficiency-boosting BlueMotion Technology engines. The 1.4-litre TDI diesel, which comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox, has sub-100g/km CO2 emissions, and combined cycle fuel economy of 83.1 mpg. A 1.0-litre petrol engine is available as either a 59bhp or 74bhp unit, both with a 5-speed manual gearbox, with CO2 ratings of 106g/km and 108g/km respectively. Fuel economy is 60.1 mpg for the 59bhp engine, and 58.9 mpg for the 74bhp unit. An 89bhp 1.2-litre TSI engine completes the line up, available with both a five-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed auto DSG, with CO2 figure of 107g/km (109g/km for the DSG), both with a fuel economy figure of 60.1 mpg.

Slotting into the Volkswagen Polo range above the Match trim, the Polo Beats boasts the same standard-fit technology including Composition Media system with 6.5-inch colour display, car information display, CD player, simultaneous pairing of two compatible mobile phones, and SMS functionality. The Polo Beats spec adds Volkswagen’s Car-Net ‘App-Connect’, combining the functionality of Apple ‘CarPlay’, Google ‘Android Auto’ and ‘MirrorLink. Additional tech includes manual air conditioning, cruise control, and front and rear ultrasonic parking sensors. Safety equipment as standard includes ABS, ESC, Automatic Post-Collision Braking, driver’s and front passenger’s airbags, and a side head airbag system.
