Order books have opened on the new Volkswagen Amarok, which is available from £32,493 on-the-road.
A six-cylinder, 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine replaces the 2.0-litre unit found in the outgoing model, and with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard the new Amarok boasts a top speed of up top 119mph and a 0-62mph acceleration time as low as 8 seconds flat.
In addition the new power plant is refreshed styling and an all-new touchscreen infotainment system. Most noticeable is a new front bumper, new radiator grille design including front fog lights, new alloy wheels, and a new third LED brakelight. The Volkswagen MIB infotainment system features in an all-new dash panel, and boasts touchscreen, radio and new technology including the option of navigation, Guide & Inform, Car-Net and App-Connect systems, Bluetooth connectivity, and DAB digital radio.
The standard automatic transmission can be chosen with the permanent 4MOTION four-wheel drive, while selectable four-wheel drive is an option on manual models. An optional mechanical rear-axle differential lock is also available for demanding off-road use.
Standard safety equipment includes four airbags, Electronic Stabilisation Programme, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, Park Pilot and a rear-view camera.
UK deliveries of the new Amarok are expected to commence in January 2017, with the pickup available to order now at Volkswagen Van Centres.
