Audi have extended their TT line with the addition of a new all-wheel-drive Quattro 2.0-litre TDI version of the model.
The 181bhp TT 2.0TDI Quattro will go on UK sale early next year, and while full pricing and specification details will be confirmed closer to the launch it has been revealed the new model will boast a six-speed S tronic twin-clutch gearbox only as opposed to the six-speed manual found in the existing four-wheel-drive TT 2.0TDI Ultra.
An electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch allows the Quattro system to distribute the torque to both axles, favouring the front wheels for everyday driving but redirecting torque to the rear within a few milliseconds when the need arises. The Quattro system operates in tandem with wheel-selective torque control, an intelligent software feature of the Electronic Stabilization Control, applying accurately metered brake applications to the wheels on the inside of the bend to optimise handling.
The Audi drive select dynamic handling system will be a standard feature of all UK specification TT models, with Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Efficiency and Individual modes tweeking characteristics of the all-wheel-drive system, throttle response, steering assistance and transmission shift points.
The TT 2.0TDI Quattro will come in Coupe and Roadster model. The former sprints from 0 to 62mph in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 145mph, while the Roadster accomplishes the same in 7 seconds flat with a top speed of 142mph. Fuel consumption is 54.3mpg for the Coupe, with 137g/km of CO2 emissions, while the Roadster comes in at 52.3mpg with emissions of 142g/km.
