Porsche has expanded its high performance GT line-up with the introduction of the new Cayman GT4, the first time the mid-engined, two-seat Cayman coupe has been offered in GT form.
With a 385bhp, 3.8-litre flat-six engine derived from the one found in the Porsche 911 Carrera S, the new Cayman GT4 has immediately turned heads by recording a 7m 40s lap around the notorious Nordschleife at the Nurburgring. The Cayman GT4 comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, accelerating from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds and to a top speed of 183mph. The GT4 version sits 30mm lower than the standard Cayman, with a redeveloped chassis using many shared components with the 911 GT3.
Inside, the Cayman GT4 boasts leather and Alcantara sports seats, and an all-new GT4 sports steering wheel which enhances steering feedback. Other standard features include bi-xenon headlights, sports exhaust, 20-inch alloy wheels, rear limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring, audio system with MP3 connectivity, air conditioning, and stability management system.
Externally, the GT4 differs from the rest of the Cayman range courtesy of three distinctive nose inlets and a large downforce-enhancing fixed rear wing. A number of optional enhancements are aimed at the more enthusiastic or track day drivers, including PCCB ceramic brakes, carbon-fibre reinforced plastic shell-backed seats, a custom Sport Chrono Package with Track Precision app, and a Club Sport Package.
The Porsche Cayman GT4 is on sale in the UK now priced from £64,451, with customer deliveries expected to commence in the summer. Each new Cayman GT4 comes with a 3-year warranty, as well as the inclusion of a complimentary course at Porsche’s Silverstone Experience Centre for all new buyers.
