Vauxhall have announced plans to unveil a new top-of-the-range Insignia model this autumn.
The Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Options on the model will include a brand new top-of-the-range diesel engine and new 8-speed automatic gearbox, while the rugged model will also boast 20mm of extra ground clearance, new five-link rear suspension, twin electrically controlled multi-plate clutches, and all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.
It will be based on an improved Vauxhalll FlexRide chassis which adapts the dampers, steering, throttle response and auto shift points either independently or based on the driver-selected ‘Standard’, ‘Sport’ or ‘Tour’ modes.
The Insignia Country Tourer joins the Grand Sport and Sports Tourer models in the Vauxhall Insignia line up, and has been designed by a team of engineers led by Brit Mark Adams. The result is a prominent landscape grille and slim headlamps, rugged skid plates, moulded black protective cladding, and dual exhaust bezels.
Keyless Open & Start makes loading easy, and with 1,665 litres of space when the 40/20/40 folding rear seats are lowered the Insignia Country Tourer scores huge points for practicality. Roof loads of up to 100kg are made possible by the standard fit roof railings. The cabin is spacious too thanks to an increased wheelbase, and inside are AGR-certified premium ergonomic front seats, heated outer rear seats, heated windscreen and the heated steering wheel, in line with its Grand Sport and Sports Tourer siblings.
Technology features include Vauxhall’s IntelliLux LED matrix light. This second-generation system now boasts 16 LED segments integrated into each headlamp, and comes with an innovative active curve lighting function and dedicated LED spotlight with a range of up to 400 metres. Other additions include head up display, adaptive cruise control with automatic emergency braking, Lane Keep Assist with automated steering correction and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The latest Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible IntelliLink systems are included, and smartphones can be charged wirelessly with the infotainment system.
Vauxhall OnStar, Vauxhall’s connectivity and personal assistant, is also on board providing servies from automatic crash response to stolen vehicle assistance. Two updates to the OnStar portfolio are the booking service, and parking search, both of which can request OnStar advisors to book hotel rooms and/or search for suitable car parks.
The 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, which will see the new Vauxhall Insignia County Tourer makes its first public appearance, starts on 14 September.
