Peugeot have implemented a major improvement programme to their best-selling 208 range, including revised styling and new Euro 6 compliant engines.
The two body styles – three and five-door – come in four trim levels; Access A/C, Active, Allure, and the new GT Line.
The most notable styling changes include a new front bumper with a fully integrated grille that is wider and features a deeper chrome surround. The new two-tone headlamps are fitted as standard from the Active trim level upwards and feature black and chrome masks, while from the Allure trim level and above there is LED daytime running lights with cornering-assist fog lights. The rear LED light cluster has been redesigned, while there are also two exclusive new alloys wheel options, in 16 and 17-inch sizes, which boast a choice of painted or diamante finish as well as laser engraving.
There are now 13 paint colour choices, including textured finish as a £645 optional extra. From Active trim upwards there is another option offering a greater level of individuality, with Menthol White or Lime Yellow personalisation packs for both the interior and exterior of the car. Exterior option packs include stamped 3D-effect grille, and gloss black finishers for the grille and front fog lamps. Interior packs add sports seats with contrasting stitching, coloured door handles, grained dashboard mouldings and satin chrome air vent finishers.
Enhancements to the 208’s specification include Park Assist and reversing camera as a combined option from Allure trim level up. Active City Brake, which operates below 20mph, is added to the Active and Allure models representing a saving of up to £900.
The new Euro 6 engines see CO2 emissions fall as low as 79g/km. The existing PureTech three-cylinder petrol engines, available in 1.0-litre 68bhp or 1.2-litre 82bhp form, are now joined by a 1.2-litre PureTech turbocharged petrol engine with Start & Stop technology producing 110bhp. There are three power output levels for the 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel, with the 75bhp option mated to a five-speed manual gearbox offering 94.2mpg and 79g/km. There are also 110bhp and 120bhp versions, both with Stop & Start. A range of performance GTi models are available in three-door form, with the top spec 208 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport boasting unique badging, lowered ride height, wide track, 18-inch wheels, matt black exterior features, sports seats, red floor mats and two-tone paintwork.
