Honda’s new HR-V will be one of the most efficient cars in its class when it goes on sale this summer, according to the manufacturer.
Honda have confirmed that the new HR-V will boast a choice of two engines, giving the model a fuel economy of u to 71mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 104g/km. The two power plants on offer are the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine and the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology range.
The diesel option, when paired with the six-speed manual gearbox, will return 71mpg and CO2 emissions of 104g/km, with a 10.1 second 0-62mph acceleration time courtesy of the 118bhp engine. Meanwhile, the 128bhp petrol engine returns 54.2mpg combined when chosen with the CVT automatic transmission or 50mpg with the standard manual gearbox, while CO2 emissions are 120g/km with the auto and 130g/km in manual form. The petrol-powered HR-V is slightly quicker from 0-62mph with the manual gearbox, reaching that mark from standstill in 10.3 seconds compared to 10.9 seconds when married to the CVT box.
The new HR-V’s performance has been enhanced by a new design incorporating aerodynamic aids such as underbody panels to improve airflow, while inside a new cabin includes an impressive 453 litres of boot space, rising to 1,026 litres with the rear seats lowered. Honda’s versatile Magic Seats system bolsters the HR-V’s practical credentials, while the model also includes the Honda Connect in-car infotainment system and advanced radar and camera safety technology.
Full specification details, including the pricing structure for the new HR-V range, will follow closer to the model’s summer UK launch.
