The all-new Ford KA+ has joined the blue oval line-up priced from £8,995.

The five-door Ford Ka+ hatch is slightly shorter than the Fiesta and is designed to meet the increasing demand for affordable small cars across European markets.

At 29mm taller than the Fiesta, the KA+ provides optimised headroom for both front and rear seat passengers, while 60/40 split-folding rear seats and a 270-litre boot ensure the model scores further points for practicality. The KA+’s 21 interior stowage locations include MyFord Dock in the centre of the instrument panel that enables occupants to store, mount and charge mobile devices such as phones and navigation systems, while a hidden stowage bin in the end of the instrument panel that can only be accessed when the driver’s door is open allows valuables to be hidden from view.

Externally, the KA+ boasts a high-mounted trapezoidal grille with large swept-back headlamps, chrome detailing for the front grille, and body-coloured bumpers, door handles and door mirrors.

Powered by Ford’s new 1.2-litre Duratec petrol engine in 69bhp or 84bhp versions, connected to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, the KA+ achieves up to 56.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 114g/km.

A unique chassis specification includes specially-designed springs and dampers, rear torsion beam axle, brake pads and tyres, and a re-engineered front sub-frame, while the Electronic Power Assisted Steering system has been tuned for more responsive performance. High-strength steels account for more than half of the car’s body construction, while safety equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control with Hill Start Assist, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System as standard.

There will be two trim levels at launch, the Studio – available in 69bhp form only - and the Zetec. Standard equipment includes chrome front grille, front fog lamps with day running lights, power front windows, electrically operated door mirrors with side indicators, perimeter alarm with remote central locking Speed Limiter and Ford Easy Fuel, while the Zetec spec adds 15-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, Ford SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system with AppLink, leather-wrapped steering wheel with remote audio controls, and cruise control. Optional extras include Electronic Automatic Climate Control, heated front seats with driver’s armrest, rear privacy glass, spare wheel kit, and a City Pack which includes rear parking sensors, power rear windows and heated power folding door mirrors.
