Ford are reporting an overwhelming response to the first month-long application window for the exclusive new Ford GT supercar.
The application window was created for customers worldwide wishing to own one of the first 500 examples – which will account for the first two years of production – and Ford found that demand for the model from UK buyers alone would outstrip global supply. Over 500 fully completed applications from UK were amongst the 6,506 worldwide, with Ford hoping to notifying the lucky potential first owners of the new EcoBoost-powered carbon-fibre supercar over the next three months, with deliveries expected to commence by the end of this year. As tension mounted during the application window, a third of the completed applications were submitted in the final six days before the deadline.
“We’re excited by the amount of enthusiasm fans are showing for the new Ford GT,” said Global Ford Performance director Dave Pericak.
While the initial application window is closed, Ford GT fans can continue building and sharing virtual models at www.FordGT.com.
