The first new Skoda Fabia Estate models have rolled off the production line at the manufacturer’s Mlada Boleslav plant in the Czech Republic.
The new model will be launched on the continent next month, with the UK sales launch to follow in March. It is the third generation of the Fabia Estate, which has sold over 1.1million examples worldwide since the original was launched in 2000. The release of the Fabia Estate follows hot on the heels of the new Fabia hatchback, which was launched a few weeks ago.
In addition to its new looks, the Fabia Estate comes with a raft of new features including the MirrorLink technology system which displays satnav and smartphone apps on the in-car infotainment screen. The new design has practicality too, with a 530-litre capacity boot, rising to 1395-litres with the rear seats folded down, and is also more economical than ever before, consuming up to 17 per cent less fuel than the model it replaces. The GreenLine version of the Fabia Estate, which will be launched later next year, will be the most economical yet, with the manufacturer claiming a combined fuel consumption of 91.1mpg and CO2 emissions of just 82g/km.
Michael Cordelius, Skoda Board Member for Production and Logistics said: “The production launch of the new ŠKODA Fabia Estate is a key element of our comprehensive model campaign. As the best-selling vehicle in its segment, the Fabia Estate is a pillar of the ŠKODA growth strategy. With its outstanding features, it has everything to attract new consumer groups for both the model and the brand.”
