From the start of next month the Mazda3 will be available with a new engine which takes CO2 emissions below the magic 100g/km mark.
The 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel engine is being added to the range, returning 74.mpg and 99g/km of CO2 emissions when paired with the 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual gearbox. The new engine will be available on all trim levels in both hatchback and fastback body styles, with prices to start from £18,895.
The new engine has been developed by the same engineers responsible for the larger SKYACTIV-D 2.2, and is a high tech creation which uses high-dispersion fuel injectors to suppress cooling loss and optimise performance, exhaust gas recirculation system, and Mazda’s i-stop idle-stop system.
