BMW has revealed its latest roadster, the BMW Z4 M40i First Edition.
The Z4 M40i First Edition is based on a concept model shown by BMW at last year’s Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach. The Frozen Orange metallic paintwork may be eye-catching, but the refinements are more than skin deep with 50:50 weight distribution, wide tracks, and compact wheelbase, giving the Z4 M40i First Edition the handling expected of a BMW M Performance model.
Under the bonnet is a 340bhp, straight six-cylinder engine, giving the Z4 M40i First Edition a 0-62mph time of just 4.6 seconds. It also boasts a sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers, M Sport braking system, and an electronically controlled M Sport differential in the rear axle transmission.
Aesthetically, the new model has vertically aligned headlights, BMW kidney grille with mesh design, large air breathers on the front wheel arches, and a distinctive spoiler integrated into the rear lid. It has an electrically-operated textile soft top in anthracite with silver effect, BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line, black exterior mirror caps, and 19-inch light alloy wheels in a bi-colour, double spoke design.
Vernasca black leather trim with decorative stitching adorns the inside, where you’ll find electrically-adjustable seats with memory function, optional ambient light, and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System. BMW’s Head-Up Display features for the first time in a roadster, while BMW Live Cockpit Professional offers latest networking technology.
Full information on the model will follow next month, ahead of a worldwide sales launch of the new Z4 next spring.
