As a pre-production prototype of the new BMW M8 Coupe undergoes final testing, it has been confirmed the flagship model is firmly on course to go on sale next year.
The 600bhp-plus, V8-powered beast is currently being honed on the Estoril Grand Prix circuit in Portugal, fine tuning its driving dynamics and performance. The M Sport model has been treated to weight-saving measures and has been engineered with a low centre of gravity and even weight distribution to optimise the driving experience. It offers variable power transfer through an M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with rear wheel bias and a two-wheel-drive mode.
Official performance figures are yet to be finalised, but early indications are a fuel economy of 26.2 to 26.4mpg and CO2 emissions of around 246 to 243 g/km.
Announcements confirming full specifications and confirmation of production and sales launch dates are expected to follow shortly.
