An updated Volkswagen Golf GTE has gone on UK sale with new technology added to the mix but with a price reduction of almost £3,500.
A new trim level – GTE Advance – joins the entry-level GTE in the range. Both feature LED front and rear lights with sweeping indicators, Active Info Display, and Volkswagen Car-Net App Connect functionality, while the GTE Advance adds 18-inch Marseille alloy wheels, Discover Navigation system, heated seats, 65% tinted windows, front centre armrest, and exterior e-sound.
The petrol-electric hybrid Golf GTE has a combined system output of 201bhp. Its maximum range is 514 miles, with an all-electric range of 31 miles. GTE models emit 38g/km of CO2, while the GTE Advance figure is 40g/km, with fuel economy of 166mpg and 157mpg respectively. 0-62mph is possible in just 7.6 seconds, with a top speed of 138mph. A centre console mounted GTE button optimises torque from the hybrid drivetrain, and four operating modes – ‘E Mode’, ‘GTE mode’, ‘Battery Charge’ and ‘Hybrid’ – are available.
The 8.7 kWh lithium-ion battery can be charged in 3.45 hours from a domestic mains outlet, or 2.15 hours from a domestic wallbox.
At £30,635, the revised entry-level Volkswagen Golf GTE carries a £3,420 price reduction over its predecessor.
The new Volkswagen Golf GTE range is available to order now from UK retailers.
