Mitsubishi has announced it will unveil two new concept cars -- the Concept GR-HEV and the Concept CA-MiEV -- at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The two concepts form part of Mitsubishi's self-imposed electric vehicle objective, which is that by 2020, 20 per cent of the firm's vehicles will feature electric or hybrid technology. The company will also be displaying its new Outlander Plug-in Hybrid at the Geneva Show.

The Concept GR-HEV is a pickup truck is fitted with an ultra-efficient diesel engine mated to an electric motor, a similar system to the one employed in the Outlander PHEV. The full details have not been released, but we do know that the GR-HEV will feature Mitsubishi's Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system and will emit less than 149g/km of CO2.

The Concept CA-MiEV, on the other hand, is a full electric car which Mitsubishi claims is "perfectly suited for suburban and country daily life." The CA-MiEV is essentially a showcase for a variety of electric vehicle technology including magnetic resonance wireless charging and smartphone activated functions, and is said to have a range of 186 miles.
