Mitsubishi has confirmed the fuel economy and emissions figures for the new Outlander PHEV ahead of the car's spring 2014 launch.
The Outlander will be capable of returning 148mpg on the combined cycle and will emit just 44g/km of CO2. Not only does this mean that the Outland PHEV will be entitled to free VED under band A, it also means that owners will be exempt from the new, more stringent London Congestion Charge.
Company car drivers will also benefit from a benefit in kind (BIK) rate of 5 per cent.
The Outlander PHEV is fitted with a standard combustion engine mated to two electric motors, each of which produces 80bhp. In total, the Outlander PHEV develops 220bhp and can achieve an electric-only top speed of 75mph.
Mitsubishi claims that the Outlander's all-electric range stands at 32 miles, while using the combustion engine alongside the electric motors increases this to 514 miles.
