Last year was a record-breaking one for MINI sales, with 63,584 new examples snapped up by UK buyers.
The British-built MINI enjoyed a sixth successive growth year in 2015, with new vehicle registrations up by 17.9 per cent on the previous 12 months. With 25,443 new sales the 3-door Hatch proved to be the most popular MINI model, closely followed by its 5-door sibling with 19,117 sales.
MINI’s John Cooper Works performance brand saw sales leap by a staggering 134 per cent in 2015, helped by the introduction of the MINI John Cooper Works Hatch midway through the year. With a 0-62mph time of just 6.1 seconds it is the fastest production MINI ever built, with 1,487 examples selling in the second half of last year.
The new MINI Clubman, introduced at the end of October 2015, also contributed to the sales success story with 1,676 finding new homes in the final quarter of the year.
And, far from resting on their laurels, MINI will launch an all-new Convertible model this coming March.
MINI UK Director Chris Brownridge said, “2015 was a record busting year for MINI in the UK. Not only did MINI achieve its best ever retail and corporate sales performance, driven by new models including 5-door Hatch, but the John Cooper Works brand also achieved remarkable growth courtesy of the MINI John Cooper Works Hatch. With the recently launched MINI Clubman and the forthcoming MINI Convertible on sale in time for spring this year, 2016 is set to be another record breaking year for the brand.”
