Michelin have announced the launch of a new eco friendly tyre.
The Michelin e Primacy will go on sale next Spring, and it is claimed to be the first tyre ever to be carbon neutral at the point of purchase.
Sector-leading rolling resistance results in fuel savings for the customer of around £70 over the life of the tyre, as well as, reduced CO2 emissions. On electric vehicles, the e Primacy will increase range by up to seven per cent.
Cutting edge technology on the e Primacy includes high elasticity compounds, improved elastomer-filler coupling, thinner top belts, cool-running sidewalls and a hermetic belt to reduce energy loss. It is engineered to be carbon neutral at the point of purchase, taking into account emissions from raw material extraction to customer delivery. Michelin has invested in projects that avoid, absorb or offset carbon emissions, including tree replanting and the installation of less energy-intensive equipment.
The Michelin e Primacy will go on sale next March, and will be available in 56 sizes from 15 inches to 20 inches.
