Sales of MG’s more than doubled during 2018, as the Longbridge-based manufacturer enjoyed its most successful year yet.

A total of 9,049 MG’s were sold last year, an increase of 104% versus 2017, a figure which cements MG’s claim to be the fastest-growing car manufacturer in the UK. The ZS compact SUV proved a hit with customers, selling more than 5,300 examples last year.

Sales success was mirrored by growth in MG’s dealer network, with 18 new dealers added over the past 12 months.

Daniel Gregorious, Head of Sales and Marketing at MG Motor UK, said: “We’re very proud of our achievements in 2018, and we’re delighted to be confirmed as the UK’s fastest growing car manufacturer.  2019 will be another very exciting year for MG, as we continue to expand our dealer network and launch some brilliant new products including our very first battery electric vehicle, the MG ZS electric SUV.”
