This is the new Mercedes-Benz Concept S-Class Coupe, which has made its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show today.
Revealed in a teaser sketch last week, the new Mercedes Concept S-Class Coupe is the replacement for the old CL-Class and will go on sale in the UK towards the middle of next year.
At this stage the S-Class Coupe is purely a pre-production concept and we'll have to wait until next year's Geneva Motor Show before we see the finished car in the metal; however, the concept does give us a very strong idea of how the production model will look.
So, what can we tell you about the new concept? Well, first off, it's 5005mm long, 1957mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2945mm. This means the coupe is shorter and lower than the standard S-Class and has a shorter wheelbase too. A long bonnet is the car's most distinguished feature and other notable features include the car's lack of B-pillars, its frameless windows and its almost entirely glazed roof.
Power comes from the same 4.7-litre V8 you'll find under the bonnet of the S500, chucking out 449bhp and 516lb-ft of torque. Mercedes has yet to release and performance figures.
On the inside you'll find the same touchscreen layout that you get in the S-Class saloon along with leather seats and silk -- yes, silk -- carpets and headlining. The S-Class Coupe also gets the same impressive range of driver aids and gadgets as its saloon brother, including Merc's Magic Body Control System.
"The Concept S-Class Coupé combines tradition and emotion, and is a symbol for the embodiment of our design style of sensual clarity," said Gorden Wagener, vice president of design at Daimler AG.
"The perfected design with self-assured style and the highly exclusive appointments make the coupé a true design icon and an expression of modern luxury."
