The Mercedes-Benz E-Class range, which starts from £36,070 for the E 200 d SE saloon, has undergone a refresh of its engine options.

The AMG E 53 4MATIC+, priced from £62,835 for the Coupe model, and the CLS 53 4MATIC+, which starts at £74,050, now come with a 3.0-litre biturbo in-line six cylinder petrol engine. The new engine has EQ Boost technology, providing an extra 20bhp on top of its 435bhp. With the new engine in situ, the E 53 Coupé can go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds, and to a limited top speed of 155mph, while delivering up to 32.5 mpg combined.

A new model, the E 400 d 4MATIC, replaces the outgoing E 350 d model.  Powered by a new 3.0-litre straight six turbodiesel engine, the E 400 d 4MATIC can call upon 340bhp to go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds, and hit a top speed of 155mph. It can deliver up to 48.7 mpg on the combined cycle and emits 154 g/km of CO2. Prices for the E 400 d 4MATIC start from £52,685 for the saloon.

The updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class range is available now at Mercedes-Benz retailers.
