Mercedes-Benz has released the first official pictures and details of the new E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet models.
Like the recently revealed E-Class saloon, both the Coupe and Cabriolet models follow the new Mercedes design philosophy, with the previous generation's quad headlamps being replaced by a larger pair of single-unit lamps. In addition to this, the new Coupe and Cabriolet feature a revised front grille, a new front bumper and updated rear headlamps.
Under the bonnet, the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet are offered with the same choice of engines available with the saloon, with one petrol and two diesel engines on offer.
The petrol unit, a 2.0-litre four-pot direct injection unit, is fitted to both the E200 and the E250, developing 181bhp in the former and 208bhp in the latter. A 2.1-litre four-cylinder diesel develops 168bhp in the E220 CDI and 201bhp in the E250 CDI. The range-topping E350 is fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel, developing 248bhp.
Buyers will also be able to choose between either a six-speed manual gearbox or a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission.
Both the Coupe and Cabriolet models benefit from some of the safety features first featured in the new S-Class. An automatic city braking system, adaptive cruise control and a steering assist system which keeps the car in lane on the motorway are all available either as standard or as optional extras.
Prices for the new E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet will be announced closer to the car's April launch.
